Weaving Workshop

Sale price$95.00 AUD

We've partnered with Dan Horsford to host a weaving workshop in honor of Matariki. Dan's expertise lies in traditional Maori weaving, where he combines various weaving techniques to produce a modern style while honoring his Maori heritage.

Throughout this workshop, participants will discover tikanga(protocols) around Harakeke(flax) and the tikanga of weaving. Each person will have the chance to craft their own Kono to take home.

A "Kono" is a four-cornered basket used for storing food or keeping trinkets. By practicing weaving, you will master starting from a square base, forming corners, and securing the weave. This workshop is beginner-friendly, and if you're new to this, Dan will guide you through everything. All necessary tools and materials will be supplied for you.
